Parent and Family Engagement Policy

Purpose
At Lincoln Elementary, we recognize that communication and collaboration between parents, school staff, and the community are essential for student success. This policy is designed to build strong partnerships to foster academic achievement and personal growth for all students.

Orientation and School Information: Parents and students are invited to attend orientation sessions at the start of the school year. These sessions provide an overview of the school’s programs, expectations, and resources.

Access to Student Progress: Parents can access student progress anytime through PowerSchool. Teachers will update grades weekly, ensuring families have current academic information.

Academic Assessments: Student progress is evaluated using teacher-created assessments, quarterly benchmarks, national standardized tests, and state testing instruments. Report cards are sent home every nine weeks.

Parent Involvement Activities: Parents are encouraged to participate in school projects and community activities, enhancing the connection between the school and its families.

Parent-Teacher Communication: Conferences are available throughout the year, including extended hours to accommodate parents’ schedules. Weekly newsletters, county-wide School Messenger updates, and the school website will provide important announcements and tips to support student success.

Confidentiality and Access to Records: Parents have the right to view their child’s records, which are kept confidential. A signed release is required before sharing information with outside agencies.

Building Parent Capacity: Workshops and training sessions will be provided to help parents support their child’s learning at home, understand academic standards, and engage in effective communication with the school.
